My Pitch and Assessment

History of Live Music in the North East from EmmaWallace23 In my completed pitch, I discuss what my idea is and what I aim to include in my planned documentary. I go into depth on m y understanding of who my client is, as well as my potential audience - to which I will create a further survey to know more clearly.  My assessment and feedback  Pitch Assessment from EmmaWallace23 Upon receiving my feedback and what I had to improve on moving forward, I have since researched into existing products in depth and discussed how they will influence and inspire me when I come to create my own documentary.  Upon doing this I have researched into my audience, creating a survey to find out in further detail what they like and dislike, helping me in the process as I now know exactly who my audience are and what they want to see.

Analysis of Existing Products

As I have decided to create a documentary which focuses all around the history of live music in the North East and the difference in it today, upon researching, I've been unable to find an existing documentary / short film which focuses on gigs in one specific place - as they all focus on perhaps a specific event or band, not the actual place in which it's taking place. While this stands, I did research into different music documentaries which in this case did focus on either an event in particular, a certain band, or even a music label.  Hitsville: The Making of Motown (2019) When it comes to music documentaries, I have always believed Hitsville: The Making of Motown to be one of the best. Something I admire about the documentary is that in a way it's very personal, as it involves some of the label's greatest artists including Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, and more, ...

Research Into Audience

My target audience for this project are people of any gender, mainly between the ages of 16 and 24. While my project is based around the North East and its history, and a large majority of my audience will also be from here, I don't necessarily believe that they have to be, as they may be watching my documentary for educational purposes. When discussing psychographics, I believe that the best fit for the audience of my documentary would be Explorers - people filled with energy and individualism, who find importance in experiencing new things, and are typically students. They want to discover and learn, and take pride in perhaps being different to others. I think this is the best fit because I think I see myself as an Explorer, and I believe that my audience, in this case, would like to learn new things about our history and the modern day, all while enjoying the media.  Furthermore, when applying the social grade to my target audience, I believe that, a large amount being students ...
